2024-25 OCIA – RCIA Information

What is OCIA (RCIA)?

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) was known as Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) until 2021 when the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops changed the name to better reflect its mission.

OCIA is a process for adults who wish to enter the Catholic Church or complete their Sacraments of Initiation and is designed for the following persons:

    1. Those who have never been baptized
    2. Those who have been baptized in another Christian faith
    3. Those who have been baptized Catholic but never prepared for and received First Communion and/or Confirmation

The OCIA sessions, hosted by our sister parish St. Paul of the Cross, also provide opportunities for you to ask the questions you may have about the Catholic Church.

You will be able to learn what the Catholic Church believes, teaches, and proclaims to be revealed by God.

Are you of High School age or older and missing Baptism, First Communion or
Confirmation? Do you desire to be in full Communion with the Catholic Church?

The Lord awaits all of us to answer His call to a deeper relationship with Him through His Church.

This is only possible if we have the Sacraments that He gave His Church.

We welcome all who desire to be in full communion with the Catholic Church to attend OCIA, formerly known as RCIA.

Who should I contact?

If you would like more information, or to begin the process of OCIA (RCIA), please contact Hugo Munoz, St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Director of Lifelong Formation by email at hhmunoz@archchicago.org.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide you towards a deeper conversion and relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.
