SPRED Meetings for Adult Catechists are held on every other Tuesday evening
from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. during the school year and on every other Saturday as
a Community from 10:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m. starting in October.
Consider joining the team as an aide or stepping in as a catechist. No formal
experience with teaching the faith or working with special needs students is
required. You will be paired with a more experienced catechist on the team.

SPRED is a program which provides faith formation and sacramental preparation for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
SPRED provides catechists one on one; one volunteer catechist for each of our special friends. SPRED is a community of friends who grow together in faith. SPRED builds a desire for, and an awareness of, God in our everyday life.
Special Religious Education for physically and/or mentally challenged children is available at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish for 6-10 year olds of all neighboring parishes and is available for older ages at other parishes in the Archdiocese.
Through play, visual symbols, hands on participation in different activities and song (done with gestures), God’s little ones learn that there is a God who loves them and will be there for them. This is a path to the sacraments for God’s special friends.
This Special Religious Education for God’s special children, ages 6 – 10 with developmental disabilities needs a few more catechists to be a one-on-one “friend” to a special child. Special children need to know about God and His love for them.
Help one special child learn about God in a way that he or she can understand. No experience necessary – will train.
If you are looking for a way to share your faith with the next generation, please consider joining us as a helper catechist at SPRED.
One does not need any prior experience as a catechist or special education to participate. Our team of experienced catechists and trainers from SPRED would be happy to help you learn throughout the year.
If you are a parent and would be interested in SPRED for your child, reach out to us too!
