It is the function of the Lector to proclaim the Word of God (First and Second Readings) and, in the absence of a deacon, offer the Prayers of the Faithful at Sunday and other selected special occasion Masses.
Any member of the parish, in the third year of high school or older, may become a Lector. Lectors are expected to combine both faith and skill when they proclaim the Word. A parish-based training and orientation class is required for this ministry. Each Lector will be asked to proclaim about twice a month.
A workbook is provided so that the Readings may be prepared in advance. Lectors are responsible for finding a substitute for those times when they are unable to make an assignment.
Due to attrition and Covid, we are presently in need of several additional Lectors.
We try to schedule per your request and no more than twice a month.
Lectors are needed for all Masses especially 5:00 pm on Saturdays, 7:30 am on Sunday & 11:00 am on Sunday.
If you can share your voice with the parish community, please contact Jim Madura at 773-763-8228 for additional information.
Everyone Confirmation age and older is encouraged to prayerfully consider this request.
