2023-24 FAQs – Religious Education

Volunteers Welcome !

Interested in being a catechist? We are currently looking for a First Grade and Fourth Grade catechist.
Not ready to be the lead catechist in a classroom, but would like to assist in a classroom?
Are you creative? Would you like to assist with designing eye-catching & inspiring bulletin
boards in the school?

Can you sign up to be a door monitor at the start of class or a hall monitor during classes for a month?

We would love to have you join our team!

When will the Religious Education classes be held?
Religious education classes for students in 1st – 8th grades will meet in person on Sundays from 10:00 am – 11:30 am in the school building.
Students and their families are encouraged to attend the 9:00 am Mass prior to classes. Classes end at 11:30 am.

What is the schedule for Religious Ed classes?   
Classes will begin on September 10 and meet generally three Sundays per month.

Sacramental Preparation Information for 2023-24

  • Students preparing to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation
    must attend a minimum of two years of Religious Education, per Archdiocese of Chicago guidelines.
  • Participation in additional events, including parent meetings and retreats, is required to prepare for the sacraments.
    These events will be communicated before the start of the school year.
  • Students who are older than second grade and are seeking to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and
    Holy Eucharist may be enrolled in additional classes to be fully prepared.

First Reconciliation: December 14, 2023

First Communion: May 5, 2024

Confirmation: Feb. 22, 2024
