Because December 8 falls on a Sunday this year, the observance of the Second Sunday of Advent takes precedence over any other celebration.
Therefore, the observance of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is moved to Monday, December 9 this year.
Normally this would be observed as a Holy Day of Obligation, but because several Catholic calendars were printed saying it is not a Holy Day, Cardinal Cupich has removed the obligation to attend Mass for this year in observance of the Immaculate Conception.
At St. Elizabeth, we will offer our usual 8:30 morning Mass on Monday December 9.
