Parishioners’ Corner – the Parish Pastoral Council

St. Elizabeth of the Trinity has the wonderful tradition of our parish priests greeting us as we leave Sunday Mass.

It’s an opportunity for us to share best wishes for the day, comment on Chicago’s sports teams, and offer quick, informal thoughts about parish-related matters.

Another more formal opportunity for discussion of parish business is afforded each month at the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) meetings.

Here is an overview of the St. Elizabeth of the Trinity PPC.

The purpose of the PPC is to serve as a consultative source of guidance to Father Deo. The PPC
helps him reflect on pastoral realities, offers insights, and proposes practical ways to strengthen the parish’s mission. Also, the PPC enhances parish communications and assists in coordination between parish staff and volunteers.

The work of the PPC is carried out in a spirit of prayerful cooperation and with a commitment to helping the parish.

Joining Father Deo, here are the current parishioners who are members of the St. Elizabeth of
the Trinity PPC:

  • Shannon Nelson, President
  • Darlene Duggan, Vice President
  • Hayley Wozny, Secretary
  • Peggy Bradley
  • Bobbie DuMelle
  • Richard Muench
  • Ron Polaniecki
  • Ruben Rousset
  • Audrey Salerno
  • Al Trigo

Current PPC work
In addition to discussing ongoing parish activities and events, the PPC is taking a longer look at three areas of parish focus. A working group of PPC members is addressing each area and will then bring its report to the full PPC.

Evangelization – Looking at ways to introduce people to a life of faith in Jesus outside the context of the Mass.
Community – Seeking opportunities to be more invitational and live out radical hospitality and offer compelling Christian community.
Worship – Developing suggestions for demographically appropriate and engaging Sunday liturgy.

This group will be working with Father Leo to review the results of the recent Sunday Encounter Survey.”

The PPC will publish highlights of each of its regular meetings in the Bulletin to keep parishioners informed.

The meeting minutes will be posted on the parish website.

Do you have ideas for discussion at upcoming PPC meetings — or questions?

You can voice your opinions or concerns by sending them to the Parish Council (PPC) email box – parishcouncil@setparish.org.

Or simply let one of the PPC members know your suggestions when you see them around the parish.
